How I’m Getting Out of Debt and Increasing My Credit Score

This year is my year to focus on all things that help my family grow.  For me to help my young boys grow into well-rounded young men, I’d like to expose them to different parts of the world and cultures.  I thought about how can I do this.  One I can take them to different museums and places locally but to really give them experiences and develop their perspectives of the world I’d like to take them to different parts of the world to gain hands and eyes on knowledge and experience.

This brainstorming session led me to the knowledge that I need to get my finances in order.  I don’t want to take on debt to provide my kids with these life experiences.  I put a plan together to understand where my financial life is at this very moment.  To begin I joined Credit Sesame, a free program that allows me to see my credit score and allows me to see my credit report from Transunion and Equifax.

Since joining Credit Sesame, I’ve been cleaning my credit report up.  I’ve gotten updates on when my accounts have been closed or removed.  I get monthly updates of any changes to my credit score.  This factor alone has given me real-time gratification and knowledge that my credit report is improving through the steps that I’ve taken.  It can take up to 30 days or more before you receive notification or a new credit report from the three credit agencies.

Do you know what’s in your credit report?  Do you know your credit score?  If you answered no to any of these questions I encourage you to try Credit Sesame now.  Oh, did I tell you to sign up is FREE!  What are you waiting on?
